Implementing Geospatial Indexing


In a previous post <link/> I talked about MongoDB’s geo-analytical capabilities.

In addition to normal indexes, MongoDB also supports two-dimensional geospatial
indexes that are designed to work in an optimal way with location-based queries. For example, you can use this feature to find a number of closest known item(s) to  point location, or query for a specified number of restaurants near a point location current location…More coming soon….

Thanks to Blair at Geolytix for suggesting an interesting use-case for MongoDB, ingesting geo-tagged Flikr data and taking advantage of MongoDBs spatial analytics capabilities.
